Why do people list that they have HSV1 and Herpes. Or HSV2 and Herpes. Aren’t both Herpes? When I hear Herpes I think of HSV2

    HSV1 stands for Herpes Simplex Virus 1. HSV2 stands for Herpes Simples Virus 2. Yes, both 1 and 2 origins are from the Herpes Simplex virus. Type I is most commonly located "above the waist" and Type 2 "below the waist". However, HSV1 is becoming more prevalent on the genitals as oral sex becomes more prevalent in our cultural norms.
